Fault rectification

Fault finding and repairs only permissible when carried out by qualified electricians.

DANGER Danger to life from electric shock.

  1. Prior to accessing the connection terminals, switch off all supply circuits. Switch off mains fuse, secure against being accidentally switched back on and position a visible warning sign.

CAUTION Risk of burning in the area of the motor

  1. Before working on the fan, switch off the mains fuse and secure with a padlock.
  2. Attach a warning sign in a clearly visible place.
  3. Let the fan cool down sufficiently before working in the area of the motor.

Malfunction

Cause, measures

Fan does not switch on

No mains voltage.

Check whether the mains fuse has failed. Switch on if necessary.

Motor protection switch has tripped.

Overload due to contamination, bearing damage etc.

Check whether the switch fitted by the electrician has been tripped (off position).

Switch the mains fuse off. Fit warning sign.

Check whether the impeller can be turned without rubbing/without increased resistance.

Remove any dirt, switch on the motor protection switch, switch on the mains fuse.

Fan does not switch on

Impeller is blocked.

Repairs may only be carried out by a trained specialist.

Check impeller and clean if necessary.

Impeller does not rotate

Switch off unit. Ensure that the impeller is not blocked by foreign bodies.

Fan doesn’t start up. Motor heats up excessively.

Impeller rubs.

If the fault persists or occurs repeatedly, disconnect all poles of the fan from the power supply). Have a qualified electrician determine the cause of the fault and eliminate it.
