Electrical connection

Risk of damage to unit in the event of short circuits.

Insulate any unnecessary cable cores.

Make sure to connect the fan to an external control device with automatic latching switch-off. The control device must not switch on again automatically after being tripped.

Pole-changeable motors with speed ratios of 8/4 or 4/2 are switched according to the Dahlander principle.

For DZR fans, air flow direction is reversed if you rewire the external conductors L1 and L2.

Operation with a frequency converter is only permitted after consultation with the factory. Feasibility must be checked on a case-by-case basis.

Prescribed tightening torques

Components

Tightening torque

Terminal box cover: M4 stainless steel cylinder head screws

1.0 Nm

Sheath terminal M7 x 0.75 mm

0.7 Nm

Motor terminals TK

0.7 Nm

  1. Remove the terminal box cover.
  2. Pierce a round opening in the cable grommet in the terminal box with a grommet puncher. Note cable diameter.
  3. Guide the power cable into the terminal box such that the cable grommet fits around the cable sheathing completely. If necessary, seal the cable grommet on site.
  4. Wire fan to the terminal block according to the circuit diagram Circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams. Observe the tightening torques.
  5. Connect external control device to the two TK motor terminals of the terminal block. Observe the tightening torques.

External control devices

EZR: The fan must be connected to a motor protection switch (e.g. MVE 10-1) or the control circuit of a contactor control (connection terminals potential-free). NOTICE: MVE 10-1 not permitted for EZR 25/4 D, EZR 30/6 B or EZR 35/6 B.

DZR (Standard): The fan must be connected to a motor protection switch (e.g. MV 25-1) or the control circuit of a contactor control (connection terminals potential-free).

DZR 25/4 D and pole-changeable DZR: Install thermal motor protection for these fans. The usage temperatures may not be exceeded. On pole-changeable DZRs, use an optional pole-changing switch, e.g. P1 or WP1, to switch the speeds.

  1. Fit optional on/off switch.
  2. Connect optional accessory components (speed controller, 5-step transformer).

Speed controller

Use a speed controller for stepless control of EZR fans. For suitable speed controller → www.maico-ventilatoren.com.

The technology used in the phase angle controller may cause humming noises.

The fan will stop and suffer functional problems if the output voltage on the speed controller is too low.

Observe information in the speed controller operating instructions. Always set the minimum speed on the speed controller such that the fan motor starts up again after power failure.

5-step transformer

Use a 5-step transformer to adjust the speed of the EZR/DZR fans in steps. For matching TR 5-step transformer → www.maico-ventilatoren.com.

  1. Fit terminal box cover. Ensure that there are no dirt particles in the terminal box and that the seal of the terminal box cover has close contact all the way around the terminal box. Observe the tightening torques.
  2. Check seal integrity of terminal box.
  3. With protection class I, check the connection of the PE conductor.
